From an AI challenge entry to real classrooms
Every student gets marks back after a test. Very few get the reason. That gap is where EvalAssist began.
- 01THE PROBLEM
A mark, but no reason
Checking answer sheets by hand is slow and inconsistent, and the result is usually a single number. A student who scores 52 out of 80 still doesn't know which chapter, which step or which habit cost the marks, and neither do their parents.

The UNLEASH LLM Innovation Challenge
Dhruv Garg entered the UNLEASH LLM Innovation Challenge, a youth AI challenge by Meta, IndiaAI (MeitY) and AICTE, run by 1M1B as part of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, in the Education & Skills theme.
Two ideas were on the table: continuous test practice with feedback, or reading a student's handwritten work and explaining every mark. The second won, because it meets students where they actually study: on paper, in the board-exam format.

Anchored to the official marking scheme
The first version combined handwriting recognition with large language models, and made one key decision: use the official CBSE marking scheme as the source of truth, not a model's opinion. Every mark is traced to a step in the scheme. That grew into evalassist.ai, with views for students, parents, teachers and principals.

For students, parents and schools
Students and parents upload a test and get a chapter → topic → subtopic map of strengths and gaps, reviewed by our team before it is sent. Schools get class heatmaps and a review queue where teachers always have the final say.

Teachers stay in charge
The goal is not to replace teachers. It is to give back the hours that bulk checking takes, and to show the misconceptions hiding inside a class average.

Schools own their data
We sign a data processing agreement before any school rollout, and erase data on request, in line with India's DPDP Act. See our privacy policy.
